1. Can I claim GST credit on my personal income tax?

- According to CRA, anyone may claim GST on his/her personal income tax return if at the beginning of the month in which CRA makes a payment, you are resident in Canada for income tax purposes, and at least one of the following applies. You:

· are 19 years of age or older;

· have (or previously had) a spouse or common-law partner; or

- are (or previously were) a parent and live (or previously lived) with your child.

2. Do I automatically receive GST credit every year?

- No, you must submit your income and benefit return and indicate that you are claiming the GST credit. If eligible you will then receive one payment if the amount is less then $100.00 or four equal payments if more then $100.00.
